Flambé was founded in 2009 by Andy Wakeford and Simon Ratzker. After years of performing as solo artists, they decided it was about time to put something back into the industry. Their dream was to expand their brand to supply high quality entertainment with a real focus on the client. This would only be provided by artists with experience, skill and passion.
Over the last decade, the company has grown and developed to include office staff, a costuming and wardrobe department, and a dedicated workshop build team, and a UK-wide network of highly skilled performers.
Fire performance is one of our specialities, and is at the heart of what we do. Our company name references our humble beginnings, but has come to mean so much more. The core team have more than 40 years performing experience under their belts, and love to use that to make sure that your event goes without a hitch. We are really passionate about making sure that our entertainment fits in perfectly with your plans for the day.
Andy is the head honcho when it comes to business. He has an MEng (Hons) degree in Systems Engineering, and when he isn’t performing he’s in the background masterminding the day to day running of Flambé.
Andy is the definition of multi-talented when it comes to performance. Outside of the office he can normally be found spinning his enormous fire or glow cubes, and he really loves to go all out with fire special effects. He is also the team programmer, and will work tirelessly to make sure all of our LED shows meet his exacting standards!
Simon is Flambé’s workshop wizard, and can usually be found hacking, sawing, or exploding things. With a BA in Character Creation and Technical Effects and a natural flair for design, he can turn just about any blank canvas, piece of metal or chunk of polystyrene into something amazing. Simon is also the company’s daydreamer – most of our wackiest ideas can often be attributed to him.
When not in the workshop, Simon is also our Western skills specialist and resident knife thrower! His talent with whips has been internationally recognised, and frankly he just loves target sports. When he’s not out working hard on events, we often have to watch out for stray NERF darts in the office!
Since joining a dance school and youth circus group in her childhood, Tor has never looked back. She has a first class degree in Journalism and Public Relations, which she puts to good work as head of the Flambé office team. Tor is a reptile enthusiast, and regularly brings her entourage of snakes to work in the office with her.
Outside of the office, Tor can often be found out and about on stilts or making giant bubbles. She is the other (arguably braver) half of our knife throwing and Western skills team with Simon, and loves to work on stunning fire and glow choreography with Helena.
Helena has been performing from a young age and is a lady of many talents. Her BA (Hons) in Dance makes her the perfect choreography queen, and she is also the head of our wardrobe department.
When she isn’t sewing or doing laundry, Helena specialises in incredible fire and glow choreography, and has recently taken up cube. She is a fabulous balloon modeller, and loves doing balloons for corporate events! They do say that the best things come in small packages, and Helena’s drive and passion make her an invaluable member of the team.
